If you haven’t heard Nintendo released a new console on March 3rd, 2017 called the “Nintendo Switch” the supposed successor to the WiiU. It is thrown into the pool competing with PS4, Xbox One, and Windows PC, but it is portable! Is a PS4, Xbox One, or PC portable? Like every other console or video game platformer, in the early stages the Switch is already experiencing errors and mishaps.

The Nintendo Switch is a video game console marked at the price of $299.99USD and is selling at retail stores like Toys R Us, Target, Best Buy, Walmart, and GameStop. On the release it sold out almost every in a flash, with people waiting outside of stores before the release. In America it has surpassed Nintendo’s sales record. It surpassed the Wii, within the first eight days the Wii sold over 600,000 units in the Americas, so if the Switch surpassed over 600,000 units sold within the few days it has been released imagine how much they sold. If you try looking for a Switch today, chances are you, you will not find the Switch, almost every retail store they are being sold at is sold out. To get one now, you have to go on Amazon or Ebay to pay more than the original price, they range from $100-$400 extra. People are trying to buy them and resell them to gain some profit, because they know many people really want the Switch.

Just like any early release of a console, it will experience errors and difficulties. People have been complaining how the dock (A stand that turns the portable on-the-go Switch’s screen to the big screen TV) has been scratching the front screen panel. Also, people are claiming that the dock, and heat from the Switch are making it so that it curves a little. Also, some people are experiencing difficulties with the Switch’s software, closing games, usual crashes, and causing “errors”. Hopefully the next Switch batch will be fixed with little to no errors with it.

So the Switch is portable, it’s not that big and it’s not too small. Being someone with smaller sized hands the Switch is very comfortable to hold, but for people with big hands I don’t know myself. The Switch’s travel size makes it easy to slip into a backpack and go travel with it and you can charge it with a portable charger instead of plugging it to the wall.

Overall, the Switch seems like a great console. As of now it doesn’t have plenty of games due to it’s short launch time, but it still has some great games that you can play now. The Switch offers great features like, portability and easy multiplayer function. The Switch is partnering with many famous companies for some usual great games. They are partnering with Konami, Atlus, Activision, Bethesda, Bandai, Sega, Capcom, CriWare, Havoc, Dena, Unity, Warner Brothers, Square Enix, Ubisoft, and EA to name a few, so expect some great games in the near future. So, yes the Switch is an excellent console, just be careful with it.
