Now that more schools are reopening, students are faced with having to get the Covid vaccine. Half the US states are allowing teachers to get the vaccine, now that schools in Arkansas, California, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Iowa, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oregon, Puerto Rico, Texas, and West Virginia are resuming school.

Doctors are determining when to give kids and teens the vaccine. “I think the reason that children were not a priority here is if you look at people less than 21 years of age, they account for 26% of the United States population, but only 0.08% of the deaths and that’s why they haven’t been a priority. I mean, as distinct from nursing homes, which accounted for 40% of the deaths,” said Dr. Offit, an American pediatrician. Another pediatrician, Dr. Maldonado, says he hopes by the end of 2021 children 6 months and older will be able to receive the vaccine.

The Covid vaccine is being given to the first responders, elderly people , any adults and then lastly kids / teens. The COVID vaccine for kids and teens should be coming out soon , but if you are 16 or older the vaccine is available for you. Twelve children have already got the vaccine but the doctors are just waiting to see how it affects them and then do it on small children.

Most teens are still uneasy about getting the vaccine. Doctors are trying their hardest to hand the shot out to everyone of all ages.
