Scientists just have recently found the hard to find whales which is also known as the narwhals. It was first found by a fisherman in a bay at Numazu Japan in 2007 .That’s when scientists put on the cold water survival gear called dry suits. If they ever found the narwhals that when they would bring it to the surface to let it survive. The scientist work quietly and quickly the animal measures up to 13 to 20 feet long. “There is so much to learn about narwhals and their environment,”says research scientist Marianne from Fisheries and Oceans Canada. “We don’t know much.” Some people say that the narwhals tusk that would inspire the story of unicorns the males tooth can grow up to ten feet long. There are many stories about this type of whale known as the narwhals. This type of animal is at least the unknown animal in the world, “The Arctic is a vast and untouched part of our world,” Fitzhugh says. Fitzhugh is also the curator of a new exhibit called about these marvelous mammals at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural Museum. Visiting the narwhals exhibit is a great way to see what this part of the world is like and feel a part of it. Scientists estimate there are only about 80,000 narwhals’ . They live in waters off Northern Canada, Greenland and Russia, surviving on halibut, cod, shrimp, and squid. The gnumber of gills are similar to fossils of sharks that lived 350 million years ago.
