The article was posted on April 22, 2020. Two cats in NY tested positive for the coronavirus. This makes them the first US pets to test positive for the virus. The US Department of Agriculture and the federal Disease Control and Prevention said they might have got it from people in their households or neighborhood. The cats had mild respiratory illnesses but are said to recover. The nation’s top infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci says that even though these cats may have got it from people, there is no indication that these cats or any pets can transmit the virus to human beings. Then again, they are not 100% sure that pets can not transmit the virus to people. You don’t need to panic, there is no evidence pets can transmit the virus, but they recommend to keep your pets away from interacting with other people or animals. IF your pet seems to have the symptoms, that is when you get them tested. Stay safe out there.
