On April 4, 2018, a chemical attack occurred in Khan Shaykhun, Syria. Much is still not certain about the attack, including what actions will the U.S. take. In the beginning of the chemical attack, many residents claim that they heard objects falling from the sky followed by an unusual smell that resembled chlorine. About 70 people died while trying to take shelter in basements. 43 of the deceased were exposed to highly toxic chemicals. A flood of victims hurried into clinics and sought medical attention. Syria denied that the government used any chemical weapons and accused a group ofrebels of releasing videos to gain international support. Much is still being investigated.
