On April 10th, Scientists’ finally captured the first image of a black hole. This black hole is about 54 million light years away, and is bigger than our galaxy. In order for this image to be captured they needed the technology they have today or else this picture could have been taken many years ago. The telescope that took this picture looked for the silhouette of a black hole instead of actually looking for a black hole because they are rather “camera shy”. This image could encourage GMS students to find things that nobody has ever done before.

Kyara Flores 8th grader   ” I think it is crazy how I live in the time that the first image of a black hole was taken.

Jaqueline Garcia 7th grader    ” I think its really cool how they can take a picture from so far away”
